A global provider of clean, sustainable energy solutions designs and manufactures one of the most widely used families of industrial gas turbines for electric power generation, natural gas transmission, and oil and natural gas production. The company’s product catalogue includes mid-size industrial gas turbines engines, compressors, mechanical-drive packages and generator sets. Operating over 50 service locations worldwide, the energy solutions provider also services and provides life-cycle support for its products in 100 countries.


The Australian sales and service location distributes a daily rotation of high-value, specialty tooling and machinery to hundreds of employees for installing and servicing industrial equipment. The office needed the ability to easily track each tool’s location to maximize utilization and ensure every critical asset is accounted for in real time.

While the office had been using a locally installed asset tracking system provided by IntelliTrack, the company wanted to pursue a cloud-based software solution that would ease the burden of maintenance for the corporate IT staff and its resources. Adding to the project was the fact that five years of high-quality data on asset usage was stored in the company’s existing local system. The energy solutions provider needed to ensure all historical data could be maintained and migrated into the new cloud-based product.

Supply warehouse staff quickly distribute rotational assets to employees with simple barcode scanning and fast, user-friendly software. In addition, employees have the option to use IntelliTrack’s reservations feature to reserve assets for specific dates and times. This function eliminates project delays by ensuring the necessary tools for a given job are available for check out at the right time.

With IntelliTrack’s easy reporting, the office can track of all assets throughout the operation and access real-time data on who checked out what item, where it is, and when it will be returned. This visibility into equipment usage has improved accountability and prevented the loss of high-value tools.

In addition to implementing IntelliTrack® Assets throughout the company, IntelliTrack performed a thorough migration of the energy solutions company’s existing data to the cloud to ensure all of employee, assets and tooling information could be maintained in the new system.
